Consistently over my life time the AMERICAN RED CROSS has always been the most trustworthy and most beneficial route to donate to people in need.

Our hotel lost the first floor rooms (36) in Port Arthur. Over a foot deep inside building outside in parking lot was 3 feet and the feeder street is over the roof of an f150 truck. Today the water ie dropping today enough to start getting in gear to tear out. We cant get into the area being live in DFW.
If looking to donate to a good group look at Rednecks With Paychecks. guys have been in it for a while non stop doing deliveries, rescues, bringing our employees to the hotel so we can staff up (been a 4 person staff since start). Been all on their dime except for some donations. There is about 50 of the running their trucks, boats, buggies etc thru the area hauling local Police into areas and pulling out stuck National guard trucks. With all the problems folks are dealing with Harvey, all the very well intentioned people during what ever they can to help is so great to see and hear. The issue I see is the lack of logistics. Everyone is getting a truck load or more of stuff and heading down to Texas and hope also Louisiana. I wonder how many of them have done their home work to determine exactly where their going, who their POC is, and just how what is being brought down can be used?
Keep seeing several different folks all over the county loading up trailers and just headed south. All the great intentions will be of little use if they cannot get the supplies where they are needed. I commend all who are trying to help, and I hope it works out better then they hope. As a former loggy for the Navy I hope all the well intentions are not wasted |
Texas people .... I think they will be just fine.
