The Harbor Table Rock Lake

Any OSO Brothers near Table Rock Lake, The Harbor Marina who could put a set of eyes on a boat for me? The broker manager over there is not the most cooperative fellow and I am trying to figure out if I should make an offer on the boat I am interested in.

Thanks in advance for any help

I have a place on TR, when do you need it done ?? Im in KC currently...Indian point area down by the dam.

scarabman 09-29-2017 05:39 AM

Thanks for the response F-2. No Rush, but as with most things, the sooner the better. What is your availability?

F-2 Speedy 09-29-2017 06:13 AM

I wont be at the lake for a couple weeks, probably wont work for you ? pm Bill3 here on the board and see if he has time to help you out, he lives at the lake and is about 20 min. from the marina where the boat is located. He a TG owner and is a sharp guy when it come to boats.

scarabman 09-29-2017 01:18 PM

Thanks F-2. I may just pm Bill3 but am getting a little leary. Given you know the area maybe you could provide a little insight for me. I was told today, that the boat I am looking at is left in the water on Table Rock 24/7/365 for a number of years. I realize it is fresh water, but even that takes a toll sometimes. Knowing the water quality there, your thoughts?

Thanks for your help.

F-2 Speedy 09-29-2017 01:54 PM

Its one on the cleanest, clear lakes in the states, a lot of divers go there because of the water quality, what kind of hull/boat is it, as nice as the lake is I dont think Id pull the trigger on it ?? Bill3 wont have a moisture meter on him even if they pulled it out.

scarabman 09-29-2017 02:17 PM

I hear you F-2. 07 Cobalt 323. I dont believe Cobalt used/uses any wood in the construction, but still not loving the fact it is left in the water THAT much. They arent even willing to pull the boat and take pics of bottom and or drives unless I pay for it. Not sure how you intend to sell a boat without pictures of something fundamental to its value?

F-2 Speedy 09-29-2017 02:22 PM

Boats are made here in KS,..........If the boats priced right ? may be worth investing a little cash, whats the price to pull it, does it have a trailer

scarabman 09-29-2017 02:32 PM

No trailer. Waiting to hear back on what they want to pull it, along with what service records the owner can provide. Price is decent, but engines and drives have 600 + hours on them. Not overly worried about engines if they are well maintained, (even though I think the whole left in the water years at a time kind of puts that into question), but my understanding is Bravo IIIs can have significant corrosion damage, even in fresh water

Hey Keegan,

didnt see this until this AM (Sat). I will call you today if you dont mind. Thanks.

scarabman 09-30-2017 12:51 PM

Keegan,

Left you a message earlier today.

Pete280 10-01-2017 09:30 PM

I'm sure it has bottom paint if left in the water, keep that in mind, it's expensive to remove and re-spray gelcoat

scarabman 10-09-2017 08:51 AM

Never heard back from Keegan, but have decided to pass on this boat, at least for the time being. Given hours on engines and more so drives, along with the point of apparently it is left in the water for years at a time and only pulled every couple years for drive oil changes and bottom paint touch up, without some local eyes on it first I cant see spending any money toward traveling from NJ to look at it, or pay for haulout/survey

F-2 Speedy 10-09-2017 09:12 AM

I think its a good idea to pass, just the fact of it sitting in the water yr round would be a no go for me, dont know whats up with Keegan

scarabman 10-09-2017 09:33 AM

Yes F-2, does not scream well taken care of. As you are local, what would be the logic of leaving it in year round? Is the boating season that extended, or is it more likely just a cost thing, as water does not freeze, why pay for haul-out and/or dry storage?

F-2 Speedy 10-09-2017 10:08 AM

TR doesn't freeze, as for why its left in I have no idea, I'll be headed back to the lake in a couple weeks, the boat about 45 min from my place if you change your mind I may have time to take a look.

keegan 10-09-2017 12:04 PM

Scarab - I forgot to call you back, Apologies. However my brother did know of this boat when I told him about it. He said he remembers it being in the shop for quite a few fiberglass repairs 4 years ago, and that it has been for sale for at least 3 years. It does have bottom paint, and said the interior looks like "shyt"....and that it's never covered when he sees it. I'd run away from this one if it was me...If a guy can't cover his boat then I'm sure he's lazy with everything else involved with it. I'd run if I were you.........Price may reflect the condition, but you don't want ticking time bomb...

scarabman 10-10-2017 05:25 AM

Hey Keegan,

No worries, and thanks for the info. This boat is now permanently off the list of potentials. I think you hit the nail on the head as to overall care and maintenance, LAZY. I cant fathom only pulling a boat out of the water every couple years. I think this is the type of owner who doesnt maintain something, but rather just fixes it when it breaks, as quite a few boaters do, however that line of thinking is pretty much foreign to us performance boaters.
