2017 Hudson River Run Photos
This was the 9th time shooting the Hudson River Run and the day could not have been more perfect for shooting.
I was fortunate enough to have my friends Paul & Jessica invite me to shoot off their 36 Concept powered by twin 350 Mercury Outboards.
To start the day, we were just north of West Point in the narrows. I mapped this area out during the week and made sure I had sunlight on the boats.
Once all had passed on by we raced towards the Newburgh Bridge where the plan was to have the boats wait for us to pass so that we had another round of shooting. As luck would have it, we were just coming up on the bridge when all of sudden majority of the boats had left before we got there.
No big deal as I knew I would have better shots on the way back any way as the bows of the boats would be running into the sun.
So off to lunch for us where we stopped at a high end restaurant called Shadows on the Hudson near the Mid Hudson Bridge.
The food was great and having a chance to kick back and relax while we waited for everyone to finish up their lunch in Kingston, NY was a plus.
I put a call in around 2:30 PM to see what their estimated time was for their departure so that I could be sure we were in position.
Timing was perfect and no need to rush through lunch to get back to shooting.
Just as we got into position the first boat starts coming down. It was a good distance so the boats were very spread out making it much easier to get everyone I could.
Once they had all passed a second time we then went to Newburgh to tie up at Billy Joe's Ribworks to meet up with some friends on the docks.
It's been a long time since I have seen some of my friends so it was great to catch up with them and do a photo shoot for an upcoming story in SpeedontheWater.com Magazine .
It was getting close to the sun going down and I was desperately wanting to shoot Paul & Jessica's Concept as we headed back.
That is when Kendall Todd offered me a seat on his 30' Superboat powered by Richie Zul 800hp engine. What was even more impressive was shooting his 13 year old daughter throttling and driving the boat up to speeds of 80+ mph. You may read that story at SpeedontheWater.com .

Nice job!
You do seem to be able to catch some very impressive shots. I hope someday I can be in the right spot at the right time and you can get that perfect shot of the Biotch.
