Project: Creating The World’s Fastest 22 Donzi Classic
By the time Stan Pike gets the engine of his immaculately restored Donzi 22 Classic back from Sterling Performance Engines, he'll be eager to push the boat to its limit, https://speedonthewater.com/boat-res...-donzi-classic.

I wouldn't want to run that fast in a 22 Classic, but I sure wouldn't mind looking that good! Wow!
|
that thing is absolutely beautiful, "so i'm busting balls when i say"
my engine hatch is bigger, it's 5' 5 3/8" , that ones only 5 feet ! i noticed the engine is moved forward, i would like to know far and see what is has for a drive line. again, beautiful piece, way outta my league. |
I've driven a couple of Donzi 22's and without some bottom modifications, I wouldn't want to drive one over about 80 MPH. The round pad and narrow beam make for a really smooth ride, but lay into it for a bit and things get really loose, really quick. Adding the pad as noted in the article should help that.

Wasn't there a guy from overseas posting vids of his own 120+mph 22 Donzi a few years ago. Also padded the bottom, big motor, etc,etc.... |
Found it......I guess it was 112+mph. Sick !
|
Oh boy. I had a 22 classic for a few years.. I was glad to see it go. Terrible handling boat over 80mph.
|
I hope this is not the boating equivalent of "hay y'all watch this". hope it goes well but some times just because you can does not mean you should.
