Looking for suggestions on complete ignition system
 

Looking to convert my boat over from the original Mercury Racing ignition. To a new style MSD set up complete. Does anybody sell a complete set up where I don't have to switch the harness over ? Thanks

May I ask why? The MSD system has been less than reliable in the marine environment. Are you having issues with the Mercury ignition?

Not having and problems with any of it. Was just assuming that the new msd stuff was better. The engines have the original Mercury Racing Distributors and stuff with msd coils. They are original to the boat from 1996 but of course have been rebuilt.

I would steer clear of MSD, (Might Soon Die). My experience has not been good. The pro billet distributors are have serious corrosion issues. The new anodized versions may be better but I'm done with MSD. They wont even sell you a magnetic pickup, which is a bolt in piece. They want you to send the distributor back to them to have it replaced and they want half the price of a new distributor to do it. No thanks.

You might take a look at Davis Unified Ignition from Performance Distributors. Complete with built in coil - one wire hookup. You can even pick your own color cap. Also, take a look at their LiveWires if you are thinking of new plug wires.

I have both on my engine when I rebuilt it. Really easy with minimal wiring and they will do a custom curve for your motors/application at no cost, just call them. The wires are excellent as well.

Yep, that's what I did. Boat ran great with them.

Pulled the MSD, went with DUI, very happy camper. Havent seen hardly any corrosion issues. I used to clean the msd regularly and sprayed them with CRC inhibitor only to still find corrosion under the cap. Never had a box or coil fail like some have though.

Really like the livewire wire plug wires as well.
