Reggie Fountain In Key West: On the Kilo Boat, 100-MPH Cruiser and More
#14
Not to me......The question for them is this kilo boat going to spur new boat sales? If not, it just becomes another dusty trophy in the case. Glad to see Reggie Sr. recognizes that at his age he isn't the guy to have on board trying to get the big number. Personally I'd love to catch a ride with Reggie Sr. in one of his boats, just not deep into the triple digits.

Make sense ?
The whole scenario does not make sense. Haven't we lost enough members of our sport this year ?

I did a double-take when I saw Reggie go by in a car down in KW as I did not know he would be down for the races. I don't think anyone is trying to tie this latest Kilo run to sales. Some folks just want to go fast and hold records (Bonneville anyone?).

Yeah but for years Fountains were promoted as the fastest, "winningest" boats made whether in poker runs (cat killer), offshore powerboat races or fishing tournaments. For a new startup boat company trying to reinvigorate sportboat sales this probably isn't the best use of capital and resources (personnel, materials, motors).
Even doing everything at dead cost, maybe a few free parts from suppliers thrown in this has to be a 200-250K undertaking. Not too many backyard mechanics going to Bonneville to be the fastest on the salt spend 1/4 million doing it.

^^^^ Probably not but it is still cool to follow and watch as long as everyone stays safe.
