What does it cost to run a team on the national level in that class?

8-10 races, team personnel, trucks/support equipment, hotels, marina fees........500K a year plus the cost of the boat/broken motors/drives?

I'm not exactly sure, but the fuel cost alone has to be insanely expensive. I don't see how some of the non sponsored teams can afford to race every season! I would love to see their fuel bill :-D

I thought they only raced 2 years together. That boat didn’t debut until 2016 with Jake

If you notice- all the race boats are sponsored by the walealthy owners own company. Probably a great tax write off.

Does anyone know if the Superboat Vee STIHL 13 boat is also out? Or is it just the superboat cat?

When sources are limited you limit reporting to what you know—what is "provably true" as you read in the AP Libel Manual—rather than what you've heard. Hearsay and rumor have no place in responsible reporting, and while I have used them a few times over the years I'm also not fond of anonymous sources.

I understand your point, though. There's not a lot of juicy detail in this story. That said, I would not call this a "PR" piece. (I was told that STIHL had no intention of making any kind of public announcement on the decision—that would have been a PR piece.) I would, however, call it careful and conservative reporting.
