Unless I'm at a local bar/restaurant where I know the owner and I know I'm going to run up a bigger size tab I never pay with a CC. You just never know what the waitress/waiter/bar tender/manager could do with it with running up extra charges to being the wrong bill and then you have to waste all the time to get it right and make sure everything gets put back on your card. Always carry cash but I also live in a small town where some places still don't accept CC haha

you're 100% correct, but that's not what I'm talking about,I'm talking about going having a couple drinks have a meal with friends and the tab is a lot more than $7,

for me it's a convenience not to have to deal with cash Some times, much easier to use my credit card,or are you saying that people that pay with credit card can't afford it to use cash?LOL

anyways this is getting way off topic so let's let the thread get back on track

sorry if it came out that way, but no. My comment had nothing to do with whether or not they could afford it.

I take the receipt and put it in my wallet, and just reconcile it with the statement online when I get back.. its very easy for a crook to add a 1 to a tip and add a hundred bucks to it.. its no being cheap its just money management.

thats exactly how we're treated too..! anyone that thinks different is naive, dont let that smiling in your face bs fool you. Key west is fun, (been the previous 5 years...) but its highly inflated pricewise.

I may visit via boat an then head back up to key colony from now on.

I almost got stuck with a big bill at the Pier House many years back. A local that we talked to got our room number and went to the the pool bar and started charging everything to our room, cigars, drinks, food and big tips and the hotel was going to charge me for everything. I never charge anything to my room and I had to call the police to get it cleared up. They blamed the hotel for not asking for ID from the guy and I didn't have to pay.

I saw that scam fail at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables last year.......We are eating lunch by the pool and guy starts ordering champagne, lots of food despite being alone. He claimed to be a Bacardi family member and gave a room number. 4-5 guys show up in hotel security uniform and forcibly escort him away.......guy made a scene, screams the famous "do you know who I am line" and never saw them again. Waitress apologized to us and lunch was uneventful after that. So when the bill comes, I tell her my Bacardi friend was buying our lunch today........she laughed!
