Default Powder coating cleats????

I am in the middle of powder coating numerous parts on my boat. I was wondering if anyone has had their cleats powder coated?? If so, how has the powder coat held up?? I worry, with having the retractable type of cleat, the paint might eventually crack due to surface to surface contact from retracting up and down. Any input would be great!!

Thanks

I had mine powder coated last spring and have had
no problems. I also am changing to pop-up cleats this
winter and will have them powdercoated as well.

Yes, I've got the pop-up style, that is what I am afraid of....because when you push them back down into their locked position, their is a bit of surface to surface contact against the edge of the cleat and I just think over a short period of time, popping them up and down that contact area will eventually break down and the paint will chip & scratch = look chitty???

What about coating the bezel and the cleat itself and leave the
piston part un coated?

One of my buddies had his pop-up cleats powdercoated and had bad results. The powdercoating rubbed off on the sides, and the cleats didn't really work correctly either because it seemed like the thickness of the powdercoat messed up the pop-up mechanism. Some of his cleats would get stuck down, and he had one that was always stuck open.....This was about 5 years ago, so maybe they have gotten better at powdercoating the cleats.
