Fuel line decisions
Replacing all lines in my Eliminator powered by Mercury 2.4 v6 3/8 line. Interested in opinions and experiences with Steel braided.
Thanks. |
Haven't tried the stuff, and I won't be using it for marine use.... However Earls has a new line out that is supposed to be the right stuff for todays fuel. I like steel braided, but it can be a bit of a chore to use as opposed to just rubber fuel line. The AN line wrenches and vice jig are must, and once you do a few it is easy. This is the new line I am referring to https://www.holley.com/brands/earls/...hose/ultrapro/ I will probably use it on the new fuel system in my car, just not quite ready to order yet.

Make sure the fuel line is Coast Guard approved. If you ever file an insurance claim for a bilge fire and they discover the fuel lines are not CG approved, you'll be S.O.L.
I was not able to find any steel braided line that was CG approved when I replaced my fuel lines. |

I was not able to find any steel braided line that was CG approved when I replaced my fuel lines. http://i0.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/...1484158804.jpg Anyway, I`ve made miles of AN lines and KOOL tools is probably the best thing I`ve purchased for AN fittings. I also like the Black braided line, much easier to work with but I'm too deep with stainless to change over . |
I agree coast guard approved is way to go. Nothing beats peace of mind. Steel braided does look good though!

totally wrong install not CG approved period - steel braided line and will scratch the hell out of the hull exterior. Also what about the primer bulb installed ? with steel braided line - how well is that going to be installed ?
