I imagine width is a problem.

I bet it’s due to not having the NXT transmission, more so than the engine itself

Assuming these are built as long stroke big cube motors and are built using a tall deck block. Now think in terms of the basic V shape, the longer the stroke vs the crankshaft centerline the taller the V becomes, the taller the V becomes the wider the V becomes at the top, there is the problem in the refit into a boat with center to center distance set for a normal / standard deck block. Could be made to work , but would need a glass job and recut the transom to move things out.

correct, all 39's are staggered. 38's are side by sides. Both are great boats

i do believe the width is the issue. If they could figure it out, a zrc with 860's would be a wicked machine

I believe they are a dual overhead cam motor. Wide like a Ford cobra motor big heads
