It was filmed in Puerto Rico and there were not an abundance of boats to chose from. As for the ones that were there, many were are not reliable. This Pantera was the best running boat that was available. The gentleman who owned it took excellent care of it. It also had the ability to put the steering wheel on either side of the boat so that we could have a functional throttleman. We had to make the best of what was there and there was not enough funding to bring many really nice boats down. We did however find a nice 28SS, a 38 Top Gun, A USA 39 ( Blue Thunder ) and a really cool vintage 23 Prowler. Hopefully the movie will turn out good. Our job is to just make sure the boats are taken good care of. It was fun to bring down John Tomlinson as a stunt double / driver once again.

Anyone know who will release it? No theatres around me have it listed.

I don't see anything listed for my area either. I also checked the rottentomatos website and it did not have anything. Finally, I found that AMC theaters has advanced tickets available. So try your local AMC.

That is a 36 Pantera. There were never any twin engine stepped 28's made and the fairing, transom and dash on the 36 are completely different from the 28.
