Taking Nortech CC to Bahamas for a month
 

What's the best option for securing center console every night at docks throughout the Bahamas? Spending a month there, and would hate to wake up in the morning with a missing boat. Boat has a GPS tracker on it, but that doesn't stop it from leaving. I'm thinking a log chain coated in plastic off the bow eye wrapped around the dock posts. Just wondering what everyone was doing to keep their boats safe out of the country?

What motors? They really like Yamaha's for some reason. Park at nice marinas and don't tell people your next island you're going to. I traveled 600 miles last year on one trip in a 39 Top Fish Cig Mercury outboards are what I have and for some reason they're less desirable to the guys that steals boats.

400 Verados, I've noticed not many Verados over in the Bahamas. I was told the mercury dealer doesn't do a good job of taking care of customers over there. Just what I've been told.

There are some who chain their boats to the dock, but a lot of marinas down there have security at night and several are so safe guys don't even lock up their rods. Quite a few threads on Thehulltruth.com on the subject.

With 400's I'd be more worried about the quality of the fuel you can buy (bring octane booster).

You can chain it to the dock if you want to sleep better but I don't think it will be a problem. The only marina I thought was sketchy was the one at Lucaya (Freeport). The hotel is across the street, you can't even see the marina from the hotel! The marina is behind a open air market (full of sketchy folks all day long but then again it is Freeport!).

Just park next to a boat with Yamaha's...you should be fine.
