Kiekhaefer Awarded Patent On New Variable Propeller Pitch Surface Drive
Truly innovative on many levels, this product could be a game-changer, https://speedonthewater.com/new-boat...-surface-drive.
Look for a comprehensive feature in the January/February issue of Speed On The Water digital magazine.

Great idea, interested to hear how the testing goes. I am surprised nobody has tried this before, airplanes have had this feature forever.
I wonder if he has thought about doing this as duo prop drive also.
Maybe he would like a twin engine diesel test boat?? I wonder how much faster my boat would be with surface drives?

Could be a huge game changer.... Does it use its own transom assembly or bolt up where the helmet goes on a typical drive? Wonder if it would be allowed in racing or if it would create its own class? Good for Kiekhaefer!

the basic idea was in the market place from the 1990's for the mechanical versions called shifting props. They used the marketing words as comparing to a transmission that shifts but the prop blades shifts ( changes it pitch )
Land & Sea, also Aero Star and Merc had their versions way back then. I still have the Aero Star version. These were mainly marketed to the Rec boat user way back then..
