So what make/model/size of boat do you have this in? I did a little looking on the internet and it appears to be a remanufactured 377 .30 over to a 383 which is producing 350 hp from what iv been reading. It seems like a good motor! Good replacement for a 454 is what I'm reading. This is peaking my interest ...pretty much the same as the 377 I have in my 29 ft Sunsation which still does 60 mph in that size boat! We will say I'm pretty happy! So what do you think of the 383??

It’s a 240 Sundeck. The original 5.0L needed rebuilt so I just bought the 383 from mercury instead. It performs much better than the 5.0, but it’s not a performance boat. Just a small lake party boat.

A 377 is an under square engine 3.5" stroke and larger bore a 383 is over square 3.75 stroke I'd take the longer stroke tq motor over and under square motor for everything but drag racing. Tq is King on the water

350 = bore 4.0 stroke 3.48
377 = bore 4.0 stroke 3.75
383 = bore 4.030 stroke 3.75
400 = bore 4.125 stroke 3.75
The 377 is a virgin bore 350 with the longer stroke crank and rods. In the old days folks would get the crank and rods from a 400 and install in a 350 that was bored .030
