Agreed, got familiar w/ Fort Myers after many trips to SportBoats Marine & Nor-Tech. I frequent the area several times a year, great boating.

Greg is right, I do think it feels hotter over here in the summer when you compare it to Miami/ Fort Lauderdale. I think it might have to do with the limited breeze here in the summer months. I will take the hot FL summer over the cold MN winters anytime!

Update: The position can now be based out of Naples. Thoughts, Naples versus Ft Myers?

More upscale, incredible waterfront homes, major high rent district.
this is the opinion of a frequent visitor but never a resident. I’d move there in a heartbeat if given the opportunity.

Depends on your income, and who you like hanging out with.

I own a couple of condos in Fort Myers that I rent out and have traveled there frequently to vacation. It's a great city with a lot to do and plenty of affordable housing options... Whenever I travel there though, I always try to spend a couple of days in Naples, because it's definitely a step-up in class from Fort Myers IMO. Just driving down the Streets there, you will notice lusher and more manicured center medians with palm trees galore and tropical foliage and flowers. The shops and restaurants are more upscale and will cost you a few more bucks... The beach in Naples is also gorgeous, with it's really cool pier extending out into the Gulf. If I had to sum up Naples in one word, I would say "Pristine".

I would say the only downside in Naples would be the higher cost of living. Housing is definitely pricier there. Again, Fort Myers is great, but if money is no object, then I personally would go with Naples. It would be great if you are able to spend a few days exploring both before you make your decision. Check out "Old Naples" 5th Ave. S and 3rd St. S and take a stroll on the Naples Pier and beach. You'll be able to see for yourself where you get the best vibe. Good luck with your move you can't lose either way!
