Fastest bottom
What is your thoughts on what the fastest bottom on Vee boats would be in a straight line flat water kilo. Single step, multi step, ventilated step, flat pad, delta pad, straight, 24 degree, 22 degree, notched transom, lifting stakes ???

Because OL currently holds the record it would be easy to say OL. I have to say the new Fountain. To me the kilo record is nothing more than a very expensive penis extension, but people pay attention. At some point those who play in that sandbox will go right up to the line with regards to mechanical/design. Lets hope and pray that when they stand on the edge of the razor blade it results in going up to but not crossing that line. Certainly not worth risking life and limb. With all of that said, I think Fountain will pull it off, just barely

Howard 28?
"2005 Howard 28 Bullet Composite, yes this is the fastest single engine V bottom ever tested at over 122MPH by powerboat and Hot boat magazines, has gone 130.10 MPH.1200HP fresh Teague motor and brand new Imco SCX drive. This boat has been on the cover of two magazines and holds the single engine V-Bottom speed record at 130.10mph." |
Im not asking about manufactures. Im asking about what type of bottom
|
Hard to argue with speed of a pad bottom if just plain speed and efficiency is at question. Bit not sure they are the best handling. Look at the tuff28 119.5 m0h with a single 725 illmor

I would think that any pad bottom hull would have the advantage.

those are pretty much all the things to trick speed out of a hull but it comes at a price in some way or another . . . . |
I would say non step pad bottom. At speed most of the hull is out of the water. It takes less bounce to get the front wet on a stepped bottom.

pad with steps, well they look like steps but actually work a bit more like a 3 point setup...... We are not supposed to know about those though.....
