454 Gen 6 Under Intake Tray Question.
Hello, I will direct this to the engine builders or ones that are familiar. I have a performance aluminum intake that I'm ready to install on my BBC 454 Gen 6 motor. The engine I'm assembling has an inner sheet metal removable tray under the intake. My performance aluminum intake does not have clearance for the tabs on the pan that hold it in place. QUESTION.....do I need this pan or can it be left out. Any help will be appreciated. THANK YOU, Will. (Engine is for my 1996 Scarab 22). I just found out that this tray is called a.....Lifter Valley Baffle

its basically an oil splash guard for the intake...keeps the hot oil off the intake and keeps intake temps cooler....you can run without it

Its there for a reason, run it, the intake gasket will compress and seal everything together.
