Hunting a scarab 302
Ok guys Ive been gunting Gigh and low for a scarab 302. 2 things, there doesnt seem to be alot of them for sale, and they dont lsdt very long when theyre priced below 20k. Seems to be alot of craigslist fake ads all over the us. I have found one up in maine but it has no bracket and no radar arch and motors are very dated. Ca. 1989. But its about 7500$ and water ready. Maybe not water acceptable bit supposedly it will float and go. In my mind a bracket is a must and I plan on this boat being an ongoing useable project. Should I wait on one with bracket or jump on this deal of 7500$ with a trailer?
really appreciate all advice and help.

But from my understanding Ill most likley be doing transom work on any one of them. This one supposedly hasnt been in the water in 4 years. Motors were started last year. This guy informed me his boating season is only 2 and 1/2 months long. I just wandering which rouye would be cosr effective. 25-30k for what I want plus chance of transom and floor rot. Or 7k for usable project with chance of transom and floor rot.

You might want to look up posts by our late esteemed member BillR that had a 302 and posted a lot of good info over the years. Won't get you the answer you're looking for but some good 302 info you might find useful.

Likely putting my 2000 Scarab 302 up for sale soon. Fully loaded, engines (trip Yamaha 300 HPDIs on platform. 2-strokes with just under 900 hours.)run strong, killer stereo with subs and tower speakers. Reverse radar arch, etc. needs updated electronics and fresh paint. Otherwise, she’s awesome. No trailer.
however, based on your comments in this thread, you are likely looking for something dirt cheap¿ you get what you pay for. Let me know if you want to discuss mine.

I got a beyond race horse deal on mine out of south Florida. It has some issues but nothing major, and the more time I spend on it the better it gets. I do wish mine had a bracket and filled transom, but that can be added when the transom finally rots out on what I have now.

PM me, there's one in a driveway 6 houses down from where I store my boat. Last time at the ramp he was coming in with one engine up and haven't seen it since. I'll be glad to bang on his door and ask the status. Boat has a bracket.
