As a race fan, the most important thing to me is the safety of the racers and I think that by reducing the power they will achieve that goal. I also believe that by reducing the power it will reduce the cost and increase the reliability and hopefully those changes may bring more racers into the sport in the future.

^^^ Granted but its a bracket class - there is NOTHING unlimited about unlimited class running 1100's... its a new version of 750 and 850 Superboat (cat)
Crazy that Poker Runs (that are not a Race) will be the Unlimited Class in offshore "boating"
Strictly IMHO

It isn't a bracket class, spec engine class maybe....Makes a lot of sense. The show is good close racing, not who has the biggest engine. Let the poker run guys have the ego trip.....

So is this the beginning of the end of Merc Racing's advancements in technology/design except in the Verado's?
Pushing the power led to the advancements in technology - racing 1100's is still going to be racing but attrition set the greats from the fields... and 1100's will still grenade under max loads - maybe a bit longer life but...
