Hull Cleaning Time
I still have available the best and easiest hull cleaner that I have found in over 30 years of boating. I am not posting this to start a debate on what cleaner is best but, to offer this to fellow boaters who are looking for the absolute easiest way to get their boat clean and stored for winter. I have sold it to many boaters who agree and guaranty that you will to.
It is easier to use than On/Off or the other acid cleaners that are corrosive and too dificult to use without gloves and eye protection etc. Literally wipe on the product and wait 3-5 minutes and spray off with regular water. It will take off rust stains, scum lines, yellowing and many other fiberglass stains. The beautiful thing is that it won't allow the clean area to yellow again like On/Off does and it does not strip the wax off. It can also be used in the bilge where acids will cause problems when they come in contact with the metal. A large bottle of the cleaner runs $24.95 plus S&H ($3-$6 avg). It will last at least 3-4 full hull cleanings with touch-ups as necessary. I have been using my bottle for 3 years and there is still enough left for another cleaning. I will refund the purchase price if you do not find that it does what I say. Email me your zip code and any questions and I will tell you the estimated total price so you to can have the best cleaner out there. [email protected] FYI - this is not my day job and I travel frequently for business so please understand that I will answer as soon as possible. Thanks Dave:D |

CLR (calcium-lime-rust) in the grey plastic bottle
Dilute it in a hand-spray bottle Spray it on Let sit 10-15 minutes Hose off No more yellow  |
I have not used my bottle yet. I will post after this weekend hopefully.

Viper, how many ounces in the "large bottle" ???
Boat is clean now, but I might be interested in getting some to have on hand for next year. I normally use Muratic acid, but would like to find something that is a little easier on an aluminum trailer, which it sounds like this is. Thanks. |
would like more info on this product, what about black soot on transom?
|
wall mart heavy duty cleaner degreaser.$3.00 a gallon biodegradable and cleans scum, rust, even took nasty bilge grime off. and with the green seal you can let it run out of the bilge onto the ground and nobody cares.:D
|
I think it's 32 oz. bottle and it takes off any stain that I have placed it on. Like I said, if you don't like it or it does not work as advertised send it back and I'll give you your money back. So far I have never had a complaint and I now for a fact that it works better than anything else that I've tried. Email me if you have any other questions. Thanks
PS - degreaser will NOT get yellow of your hull nor will it return your fiberglass to it's original white luster without removing wax. |

Anyone have any ideas on cleaning an Alpha on a boat that has been wet docked since may?? It has been driven daily but there is still stuff growing on it. Zebra Muscles and seaweed is the main things that grow on it.
|
run it into a sandbar real fast . HAHAHAHA
|
hmmm.... people keep telling me that, 1 it will remove the bottom paint primer, 2 it will clean my drive 3. i will need a new drive, nothing bad about Black Hawks or Arnesons....
|
Power wash your hull and drives, then use`s on - off ...

I used 3M Heavy Duty Hull and Deck Cleaner. Did a great job at taking off the black residue on thre transom (from the exhaust) and the waterline scum. Bought it for $7.- at Wal-Mart. Best stuff I've tried so far...
Just my .02 |
dock rat , does the 3m hull cleaner clean algae growth and brown scum line ?
|
I don't have a slip and boat never sits in the water for more than a weekend at a time, so I can't say about heavy algae growth. Still, I usually notice a "slimy" buildup at the waterline. Regular soap and water dosen't touch this stuff, but the 3M cleaner took it right off. Also worked great on the textured non-skid areas such as the swim platform (used a brush). After I cleaned the hull with the 3M stuff, I waxed with Meguiars #6 liquid cleaner wax and it came out great. Looks like new.
Hope that helps! |
What is good for black exhaust on transom. I am now using simple green or super cleaner but it still takes scrubing.

I finally used the stuff that I bought from Dave a few months back. It works pretty well. It did a great job off getting rid of the lingering algae and scum lines. It still took some scrubbing to get off the heavy stuff. All in all, I would say that it is worth the investment. It is easy to apply, like a liquid wax, let it set for about 3-5 minutes, and spray off. I then washed the whole boat top to bottom, and it is now cleaner than when I bought it. On my 26' boat, using liberally, I used about 1/3 of the bottle. The whole boat is ready for a wazing now before the long winter nap.
And... Simple Green just came out with a more transparent Lemon cleaner that worked well on cleaning off the exhaust stains as well. I bought it at Walmart. Thanks again Dave. |
What cleaner is the easiest to use for the black soot on the transom Is this stuff the ticket or is it for the scum line?
I want a spray on and wash off type product if possible. Too many parts and hoses on the transom to try and wipe something on. |
Exhaust stains
For cleaning the exhaust stains off of the baot, I've found out that Zep Orange cleaner / degtreaser works well.
I bought a gallon at home depot for somewhere around the $9 range a while back. I have some full strength in a squirt bottle for the exhaust, or any heavy stuff, such as grease, or oil. But I also have it diluted and use it to wash quite a bit of other stuff too. Can't remember if there are any precautions on the bottle (of what not to clean) though. I guess it would be comparable to simple green, but It seems to cut the heavy stuff a little more. I've found it's a good all around cleaner that's relatively inexpensive. Just thought I'd mention it.......................... |

Spray it on good, rub it with your wash mitt and 99% is gone. The ringo works great as a follow up. Afterwards, the transom will look like new. I gotta tell ya, I've tried EVERYTHING trying to get rid of the soot. I just happed to srpay some black streak remover on the soot by accident. Didn't even rub it; I just sprayed it with a hose and noticed this big white spot!!!!!  Try some, it works wonders. |
Hey stop following me around:D
Where did you find the black streak remover and is that really the name? |
Yes that's really the name.
West Marine, BoatUS, or just about any other boat supply store. |
