What Exactly is this CIGARETTE?
1 Attachment(s)
I have a friend who owns a 1985 35' Cigarette. He is not sure what they call it and I have never seen another one like it before. He thinks it is called either a MISTRESS or a CLASSIC. Does anyone know for sure?
Second question. It is fully functional, in average condition, twin 330hp motors, twin TRS drives. What is this thing worth? The hull is in excellent condition - no rot, no damage, etc. The engines - while fully functional - look like they need some TLC. There is rust showing, etc. Is a classic Cig like this worth $40k? 30k? I'm interested in opinions as to what it is and what it is really worth. |
cig 35
Looks, to me, like a Mistress. The engine/drive combo sounds right. The value sounds a bit high, unless it's in tip-top shape.
Don't expect too much top end, unless you've got big dough. But, it will crush most seas the weekend boater will encounter. |
Its a spittin image of my 28, only streched:p The older 35's were called Mistresses, but the boat in your pic looks like it has a windshield wich leads me to belive that it is a flat deck. It is definately one of the two. As for the value check out Thunderboat Alley.com and compare it to the ones on there. I have seen them advertised from 30k up to 90k.
Hope this helps. |
lots of teak and its a Mistress. Spelled P I G. They had the glass windscreen. 30k if it gets in plane and is rebuildable. Many were bottom painted.
|
Checked some resources and yes I would definately tag it as a Mistress.
|
There is a similar boat for Sale in Havasu on one of the brokers lots. Paint is almost identical except it has more black. I am not sure what they are asking for it.
You might try to PM "Semper Fi", he delivered a boat to this place recently and he can probably give you the name so you can call and see what they are asking. |
Yes it is a Mistress and is called that or a Flat Deck. 330 hp was standard and the option was a 400-cyclone. I have 85 but it came with 454-440hp cyclones. I bought it in dec-99 and couldn't get any better than 58 mph. Put on some vitamins, steroids and alot of help from Bruce Dudly and they grew into 540's. I have not done any prop testing and she runs 70.3 on GPS with 4 blade Hydromotive.
The TRS hurt the price but the 330's kill it. SORRY Tell him to have someone good go through the drives, pump them up to 498 ci. Stay with carbs and be proud to own a CIGARETTE. |

Jeffrey, is this boat for sale? If so, where is it and what is the owner looking to get for it? Does he have a current survey? Thanks in advance. Dave
|
Dave its a flat deck!!!!you need a Top Gun.....
|
I know what it is. I sold it new. It's a 1984 mistress with 330's and the big rap-a-round sun pad. When I arrived at Cigarette in 1984 there were 9 of the on the grounds all unsold. Guess what my first jod duties were? Craig Barrie

Radar Arch
DJD, how much trouble would it be to remove the radar arch. What kind of drives, and power?
|
Dave - In all honest y I would have to agree with Panther. You have a great looking boat but the radar arch hurts it. I would bet that the little money it would cost to remove the arch and do some glasswork to cover the holes would give your boat a whole new look (and far more interested buyers). Just my .02. Everything else is there!
|
I could have the arch off the boat within an hour.
There are 4 bolts on either side. there used to be stepping pads there before the arch was on. Holes could be covered with a small strip of non-skid or starboard step pads. PS... Jeffrey, don't worry, I re-listed the boat in your classifieds;) Is it ok to talk about it on the board?? |
Dave - If anyone asks you about it please reply in a private message. As you know we are trying to keep solicitations out of the GD section. Mine was not a solicitation - only to get feedback. Thanks!
|
Congrats Fred....lotsa luck with her..

I bet your paint gun trigger finger is getting itchy just looking at that boat! Congratulations on a quality purchase! I'm sure if you decide to sell this one after a redo like the Sonic, you will not have to wait long for a deposit!! Oh yeah..put some HUGE power in that bad boy and let her rip!!! |
Nasty, is that 82 he one in the picture, or is that yours?
What is the dollars web site? Rick |
Hey Fred, I thought that you would like that boat! Congrats! Lokking forward to more pics!

Pocket Change- www.dolleroffshore.com , check the "Links" page, most of the marine sites are there. 75K for the 82.
DJD- I can't beleive you haven't sold that yet! If I had the money I'd be on my way today! Good luck, but I secretly hope it is still on the market next spring. |
