Obituary of William Mitrovich

William M. "Bill" Mitrovich, 73 of North Kingsville, passed away unexpectedly at home on March 14, 2018.



He was born June 9, 1944 in Cleveland, Ohio the son of the late William and Bernice (Olesinki) Mitrovich and had remained a lifelong area resident. Bill worked at CSX Railroad as a Conductor for 44 years. Bill also owned and operated Crust & Co. Pizzeria and Family Restaurant in Chardon for over 20 years.



Bill was a power sport enthusiast, racing motorcycles, stock cars and drag racers, but his passion was powerboat racing. In 1989 Bill and Ed Halcomb, Team Showdown, won the 1st Annual Marina International Offshore Powerboat Championship and were awarded the Great Lakes Offshore Powerboat Racing Association Driver of the Year award and continued on to the World Championship. He was also a member of the Gold Wing Club, the Moose Lodge and the Eagle's Club. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.



Mr. Mitrovich is survived by his son, William "Bill" (Helena) Mitrovich of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren, Andrew, Mark, and Rachel Malus; sister, Kathryn Smith; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.



He was preceded in death by his brother; Steve Mitrovich; and his parents.



A Celebration of Bill's Life will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 7PM at the Zaback-Williams-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 W. Prospect Rd., Ashtabula. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 5PM until the time of service at 7PM.

Yes, there's an interesting story behind that whole thing. He had recently started a complete restoration of the boat at skater.
