Twin 550's........I hope they're small blocks. Next question...why? Twin 300/2.5 outboards run 120 or so........ Twin 550's should run over 140......but the boat will run out of bottom far below that speed. If these are big blocks....Do not get airborne......ever!

well .this is my ENDLESS story.actually we discussed this about one month ago on technical part of these forums.
the engines are bigblock with aluminum heads+intakes +cross overs and very light exhaust system.Gear ratio is 1.36:1 . I have 28-30-and 32 4 blade props.
this boat had twin 2.5 litre mercury efi's when imported from U.S. .But I bought the boat without the engines. At the beginning ,befor buying the boat I already had the 502 engines.Last year I have installed one of them, but that time engine was almost standart (415hp).We saw maximum around 80 mph with single standart heavy 502. after driving her for 2 months I 've lost my attention about the boat and decided to rebuild the boat.First thought about double 2.5 outboards but all my friends had serious problems with that engine.(Actually we call them ''mechanics-engine'' in Turkey.Cause you have to be a mechanic to drive them .FULL OF PROBLEMS.engine decides when to work when not by itself it decides how many rpm to turn for that day have never seen an engine running more than a week without problems)
whatever;I already had engines and started to modify them;at the end we lightened the engines and put some serious parts.
we almost cut the rear upper half of the boat and build side by side closed cockpit and an engine room with some monster scoops.
boat supposed to finish months ago...but no one kept their promises...finally last month we were ready to test-drive her...but again ''the luck'' left me alone.......

TODAY:THIS MORNING everything was OK. we put the gas +we called the crane+ all mechanics were there; supposed to test her BUT again
first: one of the coils burned out ; we had a spare one- NP.
then : one of starters died (supposed to be 3.8hp hi-torq);we do not have
now I have to wait monday to order one from states and another week lost....

anyway sooner or later this boat will run...I know putting twin BB was not the best choice but by the time it happened...

this morning I was very excited while starting this thread; no sleep last night; was hoping to write did XX mphs now.....but......

will keep you informed ;if interested
