1450hp N/A on pump gas
nice article... $100k+...jmo i dont see many being sold.
I don't thing price will be the problem. The thing I look at is how wide the engine is.
try fitting that in a boat the mercurys were hard enough good luck with that
Other than to be different, which I'm totally cool with. WHY???? When you can get the same power from merc for the same price with "some" warranty. I would much rather have a FI engine of NA all day long. More efficient and you don't sacrifice rpms range to make other areas work.
Those will pop your Bravo's! LOL Plenty impressive, given the market conditions right now it will be a tough sell.
While I think they're pretty cool I do have to agree the size will be a big problem. I also have to say those are some pretty big numbers even with the CI. I'm not an engine guy but at 1.76 hp/ci can a guy expect them to have much of a life. My 572s are a decent build and making 780 but even that is only 1.36/ci. I would like to think for the money you would be able to get a few hrs out of them.

It’s only a matter of time before someone wedges that into a 22’ Donzi. |
Yes they are huge and clearly will not find their way into any twin engine V bottom other than some monster like a Magnum for example. But, and I know everyone will jump all over me here. I believe they are still cheaper than Mercury and make more power through a wider RPM range than Mercury. They are fuel injected and should be able to have a nice tune from idle to full throttle. Could be very interesting for some high end cat guys.

I’d agree, everyone is all upset about $100k price tag yet the 1350s (with drive) are what? $220k. They’re a cool piece and some very high quality parts, basically a very detuned drag motor. I’d take one of these over a Merc 1350 for the coolness factor and I’m sure they sound amazing. But I’ll never have a spare $100k to drop on a motor (much less 2)... |
