SBC cam question

Have an old friend building a 383 going into a little cruiser.. 9.1 compression, alum heads, cam is .480/.488-258/264-206/212 - 112

He is running thru prop exhaust... is this a reversion disaster waiting to happen ??

Your going to be fine, thats a mild cam and even though its a 112 lobe separation and not a 114 there isn't enough overlap to cause reversion, even with stock exhaust. The @ .050 duration numbers are especially conservative given the gross duration and lift values, even more reason not to worry. The added displacement of the 383 vs. a 350 will help with exhaust velocity as well which will make it let likely to revert. I have a 218/224 @.050 112* hyd. roller going in a folmula 242 right now. Granted its thu-hull with stock manifolds and stainless steel long risers, but I'm not worried about reversion.
