Would be cool to see a test on say a 34 Nor-Tech. One with twin 425 Yam's and one the twin 400r Merc's.

I'd put my money on the twin Merc's:whistle:

My 400s ship from Merc Tuesday. It will be interesting to see the difference from the 300s. At LOTO, every marina carries 93. And all gas on the lake is non ethanol.

This is pretty stupid. The 5 year warranty is attractive, but 425hp @999 lbs?? Seven's 627 is 627hp @ 1,094lbs and Mercury is 400hp @ 668lbs.

Yamaha 425: 2.35 lb/ hp
Yamaha 350: 2.23 lb/ hp
Seven 627: 1.74 lb/ hp
Mercury 400: 1.67 lb/ hp
Mercury 350: 1.91 lb/ hp

new 300R v-8: 1.71 lb/hp (4.6 liter) still lots of room there for HP just like the Yama Hama at 5.6 liter.

good...planning on towing the skater up there soon...no need to hunt for premium then :D

the 400r's have a back log now...you must have ordered a little while back or have some good connections LOL

Yes down here marina gas mostly is 90 non ethanol. It's a PITA for guys like Dean that can't make longer runs with our group on one tank of gas because most of his boats need 93.

For that matter I don't know if I have ever seen ethanol at marinas.

But if these motors are for CC's what can you get in the bahama's? I do understand though on the 400's if you can't get 93 they adjust for the lower octane, so you just loose some power.

I really think that is the point lots of room to grow.

yea the 400R's are peaked out...at least to keep them reliable. the new platform is what we all were dreaming of when we had the 300sx's....merc knows how to milk our pocket books over time don't they :picard1: I'm already dreaming of the 300R potential but they've already got that done and waiting on the right time business wise to release it.
