i use a collapsible step stool you can find at Walmart, it works great for my baja |
Was trying to make it look decent. Thought about extending swim ladder somewhere. IDK
|
On my VR 1 I go from the bolster to the dash to the deck.

Same here. I figure I'm going mess up that bolster and slip at one point or another
|
Buy an Active Thunder and use the walk around.:D
|
I have a walkaround
|
You dont climb up on the deck...thats the womans job. Your job is to check out the veiw as she climbs up, then bends over to reach the bow cleat...
|
https://photos.app.goo.gl/aboc0xLffCLl98pk1I have a walkaround. Was thinking under the red center coverover the stair case or port passenger side. Some type of light ladder, out of the way
|
They should have molded steps in every boat to get up through center. I know some do

looking at the slot that the cabin top hatch goes into, a carpenter, welder, or other fabricator
could make a step ladder that slides into the slot all the way forward with the legs being on the cockpit floor. this way the ladder leans forward and you have the consoles for support getting up and down polished, painted to match, non skid on the steps tig welded aluminum or stainless a t-top and or bolster base manufacturer could fab up something real nice 2002 Velocity 410 powerboat for sale in Ohio Used 2001 Velocity 410, Lackawanna, Ny - 14218 - BoatTrader.com |

Something that slides in place is s good idea .
|
Port side console (in front of the passenger) could you put 2 or 3 powder coated steps on the side next to the cabin entrance and another grab handle up on top of the port console? Whats behind the port console? Maybe a couple of molded inserts, like pockets. Can't think of the right name for them, I've seen them on lots of boats. Phragle's answer, although technically correct, he obviously hasn't seen my woman..... :( RR |
Lol . Maybe some folding steps. Aluminum or stainless with anti skid ??? Hmmm. Fold down almost flat. Bolt through side console wall. If I cant find it I can make it or modify something.
|
2 or 3 would work
|
Recessed might be easier

I'm liking your idea a lot more. I could reinforce the wall inside with nylon , lexan ,plastic or wood and put D shaped pocket steps in. Thank you sir

I have 2 of the larger folding steps mounted to the front bulkhead to get in and out of my bilge.

If it already has some coring your good, just seal it well if the coring is wood. If not you could do something line running a piece a 3/4" coosa a little wider than the step holes, throw a layer or two of 1708 over that and cut your holes,

While I agree that it is the woman's job.....I worry that she might fall and break an arm or leg. Then I would have to do the ironing, cooking, dishes, vacuuming, lawn mowing etc.

Thosefolding steps are nice.
aluminum. How are they holding up?. Do they stay folded up while under way and has anyone gotten scraped by them. They look good with minimal work installing them |
Wow that sucker is big. Like 6 x 7. Does it really weigh 5 lbs. Aluminum seems it would be lighter. Edges would have to be chambered or raised. Can you post a pic of the jumbo folding step mounted on your boat please? Thank you

I have one similar, from Northern Tool. Installed it after falling while doing bolster gymnastics.

I loved the steps on my Y2K. I could practically run up these steps.
