Too much money for a boat with structural issues for starters. At that price and vintage it should be in excellent shape, not a project boat.

Here's what will possibly happen :
You'll have the engines pulled to begin the stringer repair at a quoted cost. Once the work begins the cost will escalate as they discover that water has migrated into the transom, bulkhead and possibly elsewhere. The deck will need to be removed to investigate and determine a cost to repair it and possibly hull stringer issues. I just experienced a similar scenario. Nothing can be predicted for total cost until it is opened up and opening it up is expensive alone. Move on as i did.

I love my Baja but it’s a $20k boat. If I stuck another $20k into it it’s still only a $20k boat. I’m sure the current owner thinks his boat is near perfect but is maybe only a $20k boat for the hardware alone. There are some nice Baja’s out there where people have sunk $50k into restoring them but selling at a steep discount - just not right now in mid season.

Lol, thanks for the advice guys! We are on a pretty small lake, 20 min on the throttles then park all day. Wife and 2 teens want A/C when its 110 deg here for weeks on end I can't stand being in the sun. Maybe this is a better choice, seems clean and good price. What do you think? I know the difference, been cruiser vs performance for months now.

Hi. If you are in the market for a 33ft boat, my Powerplay is for sale and is a beautiful riding boat. If you are not familiar with Powerplay boats, you should read about them. They probably are the best boat in its class, and can run up against a 38 Top Gun in the rough stuff. I'm sure everyone on this site will agree, plus it doesn't need $50k in repairs.
