St. Petersburg marinas
Hi guys, Im looking for advise and recommendations for marinas in St. Petersburg or maybe Tampa. I’m moving down from the NE. Where do you keeps your boats? I’m thinking I’d like to keep it on a covered lift where I’d have 24 hour access to it. Thanks in advance. |

Never seen a marina with covered lifts in Florida.......
Boat Storage | O'Neill's Marina |
That will more than likely we your only option at all. Covered lifts and 24 access is VERY rare in this area and shocked you even found that one. |
Home Port Marina in Ozona has a few covered slips with lifts. Only about 10 lifts with maybe four being covered.

maximo marina in st pete has just built all new covered slips with a good number of brand new lifts
other than that there are not a lot of options for covered lifts with slips I think the guy told me the covered lifts are going to run about $750 month |

Otherwise it’s not a typical Florida style marina. |

As already been said, the covered lifts are fairly uncommon down here. We work on boats at a lot of marinas around here and there's everything from very good to very bad. Not saying they're all bad, but after having seen the things we see it would make me nervous to always leave my boat in the care of some of the marina's around here. If you're set on covered it's going to be a much harder hunt but there are always private boat lifts for rent.

They were a great marina before they sold out to IGY Marinas. I keep a boat in the high and dry there. They continually think of new ways to charge you new fees. They charge you if you have a outside contractor work on your boat, they charge you if you want your boat put on a wash rack. If you come back after they close and tie up to the wrong side of the fuel dock they charge you a transient dockage fee. They raise their rates all the time. I just got a letter the other day that the rates are going up again Jan 1. I have started looking for alternative marinas, I would suggest anyone considering maximo think twice. |
I’m not set on a covered lift. Thought it would be nice though. I’m looking more for a nice fun marina. Where do you guys keep your boats? |

What are they hitting outside contractors now? We haven't worked on one there in quite a while. We've been charged everything from $0 to $250 to work at marinas around here.

It's not a huge amount of money, I think it might only be $25 that they charge the boat owner, then from what I understand the charge the contractor on top of that. To me it's the principal of it. I don't like to shop where I feel like I'm getting nickel and dimed at every turn. Imagine you went out to a $100 dinner and they charged you for the extra ketchup. It's just something that should be included with the meal. Same thing with moving your boat to a wash rack, at $400 a month for a 24' boat it should be part of the deal, just as it has been for the last 15 years of my high and dry rentals.

Thanks for the info guys. What can I expect to pay for high and dry or a lift, uncovered, private or at a marina? 34 foot Formula and trailer storage. I’m sure there is quite a range, Terra Verde sounds nice and I like the location. |
