i would need some help from airline pilots here, but...

i do believe that if you actually put real steps on the deck, the boat would run slower

why?

I think steps on the deck would increase air speed over the deck. The wing effect is negated and thus the lift is negated, thus making the boat slower. The deck is equivalent to the top of the wing similar to an airplane. Due to the curvature of the top of the wing, it creates a slower air velocity compared to the bottom of the wing, where there is no curvature thus making the air velocity faster. The faster moving air wants to fill the slower velocity void thus creating a lift

Ah, no my brain hurtz again

Jim DeNooyer and his family have been involved with racing and performance boats for 40+ years. He is going to race this with his daughter Lyndsey "very cool deal" I first met Jim back in 85 when he and his brother were racing a 24 Skater with Yamaha power (they were fearless).. If you are getting a boat painted you owe it to yourself to call Doug Harell at DHD.

There isnt a single airplane with steps on the top or bottom of the wing that I know. But, laminar airflow on the top of the wing provides lift too.

LOL, no matter what. There is no way we can debate this on a boat forum. This gets so complicated with speed, wing thickness and wing shape that it makes you appreciate the deck surfaces of cats real fast!

Doug Harrell Designs wrapped up the paintjob on the new Killer Bee Doug Wright 32-foot raceboat—now it's off to Grant's Signature Racing.
