Engine hatch hinge replacement?
I have a 1991 Cigarette Cafe Racer. I need new engine hatch hinges. Does anyone recognize these or know of a source where I could get new ones?

Sea dog
Attwood or if I come across something else. |
Any good chrome shop can strip those & replate them, and get them back to you in a weeks time. They are brass hinges. Been there.

One of them is slightly bent - so that doesn't solve the functional problem, only the cosmetic one... I might try to bend it back into being flat/true, but I don't have high hopes for that.

A buddy has same boat ‘91 cafe carbon fiber and replaced his hinges a couple weeks ago. His were Gem (Gemlux) brand. But his were the more traditional square style with 6 screw holes. Not sure why the same boat has different hinges. A quick search didn’t yield any like yours on Gem site. Might shoot Gemlux a pic and see if they made those. Southco also has a large selection of marine hinges. Might have one with same bolt pattern? If yours are just bent on the flat area, a machine shop can flatten them out in a hyd press. I’ve also used our machine vices to flatten bent steel as the vice jaws are ground smooth and won’t mare the finish. |

Mine are just bent in the flat area - one side only - so maybe I will try the machine shop... I found some Sea Dog hinges that look nice - but it would require mounting 2 per side vs one per side to deliver the same surface area of holding on the fiberglass. Thanks! |
