How many watts needed to run a/c in 380 powerquest boat

Hello everyone I purchased a 38 foot powerquest boat a couple weeks ago and the question I have is how many watts do I need to run the A/C in this boat.? I was thinking about putting in a generator. Your help would be greatly appreciated

A Honda 2000 will run a 7,000 BTU unit or a 10,000 BTU unit with a "hard start" kit.

A 2000 watt generator will run my AT air conditioner, but if it cycles frequently it will trip the generator. My 3500 watt will run my 16,000 BTU on my cruiser.

Double the BTU's and that's the size generator to run. If the AC is not already in the boat, go with a 24 volt system and run it off of batteries.

WHAT!!!! I ran a 7,000 BTU unit off a Honda 2000 without issue (it couldn't run much else but it ran the AC well and often)

You're suggesting it would have needed a 14,000 watt genset?

Lol, yeah I was thinking the same thing. I think he meant 7000=1400 watt or 16,000=3200 watt. A hard start cap is necessary.

I went with the marinaire 6000 BTU air conditioner.. its the only size unit i can get in the boat.. they told me it should have plenty of cooling capacity .. let us pray! LOL

A honda 3000 generator might be good. I use honda 2000.

The EU2000 has been replaced by the EU2200. The EU2200 has a larger more commercial grade engine with an addtional 200 watts. The only down side is it uses just a little more fuel. Prices are going up on Honda generators after January 1 due to the trade war.
