There is a local used car dealer that bought one here to resale. I think he is asking 40k for it. Its silver and I dont know what options are on it. He advertised it our local classified paper. It comes out on Tuesday. If you want me to get the number, call me on my cell 828-231-5000.

Beautiful car. My first car was a '74 260Z, second was a 77 280Z, third was a 78 280Z. My mom bought new and still has a '83 280ZX Turbo 5 speed 2 seater. We were and still are I guess a Z-Car family. We didnt own a car with a back seat until I was in middle school. I wrecked the 260 and the first 280. I had to quit driving the last 280 because of insurance reasons. I had 11 speeding tickets on my record at one time. Insurance was 5K a year for me on the car and this was back in the 80's. I gave it back to my dad and he still has it but he put a 350 Chevy in it. Talk about a blast to drive. So I guess I already have a 350Z.

I was going to buy a 350Z also until I saw the Infiniti G35 Sports Coupe. Same basic body as the 350 but more refined. 7 less HP though. Not a big deal. Automobile Mag. said it is a better car than the BMW 330Ci. That is saying alot. Also, G35 Coupe is a 2+2. All for around $34,000 fully decked out. 18" wheels, Brembo brakes, leather, etc.

We had one at the lot this weekend. I drove it fifty or sixty miles. It was a purplish "enthusiast" model. Automatic. Here's my take on the car.
WAY too much tire and road noise. HARSH suspension tuning. Runs great, good motor. Handling is nimble and sticks like glue with no drama. Tail hangs out nicely with the throttle in the corners. The "touring" model may have better sound insulation and I believe it is available with adjustable suspension. Both would be highly HIGHLY recommended. The "track" version has huge brakes and big wheels - hopefully, it is also available with sound insulation and adjustable suspension... I had a 1989 Saleen Mustang that I autocrossed (SP4) for years. This 350Z was every bit as uncompliant as the old race Stang. I'm talking 1984 Corvette F-41 kind of stiff. Really surprised me. By the way, we sold it for $1,000 over sticker (it was new, but we put 170 miles on it "testing"). |
Damn. I've put my share of miles on both an '87 Saleen, and an '84 Vette. If that's what comes to mind when you drive the 350Z, I think I may be too old for one at 32.
