I would believe you are correct. It was concerning to me watching the whole thing unfold that race control announced shut down the race. It was announced very quickly when the swimmer was spotted great call SBI. What I feel needs some major changes is the race boats kept racing for several more laps after the announcement. What went wrong that the teams didn't stop and come off plane? How is it possible that teams don't understand come off plane and stop for further clarification. I understand SBI doesn't stop races and maybe that led to some confusion. Lets figure it out and use this as a learning lesson please.

I was also wondering why it took so long for some of the boats to come down off plane after being told to do so. I could totally see the CG being upset that boats did not stop quickly enough and shut it down because of that.

at those speeds, looking through the small tinted windshield I'm not sure the guy would have been seen! You could have just run the tunnel over him and he would be fine as long as he ducked the tie bar!

no tie bar between the drives but there is a very sharp rudder at the end of that tunnel

They didn't have red flags up? Wouldn't seem much different than if a racer got ejected. Bunch of boats with blue lights converge with a couple of yellow flagged sweep boats but the race still goes on.

This is probably the main reason why the race was ended. I am sure a swimmer on the course didn't make the CG Sec Com happy, not having the boats slow when requested is most likely what led to their decision to end it.

I have seen many times where a practice session has been ended or a race halted (In St Clair we have freighter traffic) and race control has tried to communicate to the race boats and they have been unresponsive. I doubt they are ignoring race control.... Think about the noise inside of these boats when running at 150+. They probably could not hear race controls request to slow... Again, just my thoughts.

I have to believe all those boats have spotters communicating with them as well. All communication is heard threw there earphones so the noise in the boat is not an issue.
