You cannot run 30 lbs boost in a boat engine for very long and would not on the street/track in a car either.

Heat build-up in the pistons/heads will cause detonation or simply fry pistons. Also you probably dont want to run the high rpm's the Mustang was running.

I have been running twin turbo's for over 23 yrs. Like check300 said turbo lag is minimal when properly set up ...... Anybody got any ideas what kind of power i'm making.Her's the specs 540,8.5:1comp,14#boost@5500rpm,Rhodes lifters Bankscam 114*lobe cl 30* timing intake charge temp 102*f RayJAY Eflow exhaust temp 1390*f &alum heads. Twin750 carb..72pri,90sec,.070power valve holes. Fuel when in boost 113.

I would choose turbos over blower because, Look at where a blowers power is, not as much as a turbo but all throughout the rpm range. look at a turbo, wheres the power? Upper Rpm range. I choose the turbo because most of my boating is above 3500 rpm. If i was after acceleration, it would be a blower.

And dont listen to redcheckmate about going fast, he dosent know what that is. Thats what, a 20 foot checkmate runnin 101? gps?? LOL!!!!!!!!!!

Red Checkmate. Do your Rayjay E-Flow turbos have a fixed internal .625" bypass regulating your boost? Sometimes, one will bush down that bypass to increase boost. 14 lbs. boost is more than a 454 will produce on those turbos unless that bypass has been reduced. Just wondering if it's your engine size that's spooling those turbos up so well or if you did reduce the bypass.

Rodger..My turbo's origionally had no bypass holes and made 18# boost on a 454. I drilled a.562 dia. hole to lower boost to 14# when i switched to a 540 ci motor.

He's right, all these turbo problems were solved years ago by the guys in ski racing: Gary Teague (GT Performance), Billy Dunsmore (Race Aero) and Carson Brummett (Gentry) and a few others. EFI took care of a lot of problems, plus jacketed turbo housing and the latest in waste gates. 540 and 572 cu in motors (turboed) make tremendous (dependable) horsepower but cost a lot more than a blower motor. Nothing short of an all out drag boat will run with a ski-race boat from 0 to 100...
