Nordic Heat

Can anyone give me some experienced feedback on the 28 Nordic Heat? I am looking for a fast single engine pleasure boat, ideally with a 500 efi in it. Is the quality and stability of a Nordic comparable to say a 29 Fountain Fever?

No Bias opinion here:) :D :) :D :) :D
I won't knock the Fountain at all. It's a great boat obviously. We looked at many and I can only tell you the things we liked about the Nordic.
-The Nordic 28 is quite a bit larger than the Fountain 29
-The Fountain looks somewhat dated, inside and out
-The Nordic lines are (in my opinion) are second to none
-Fit and finish is great in both, again the Nordic is just more up to date
-Cabin room is very large on the Nordic
-Same power performance is pretty equal
-Fountain probably handles the big water better with the Nordic being more of a large lake boat

It's all what fits your needs I suppose.
Any questions, just drop me an e-mail.
Good Luck,
Dave

The Fountain was one of the finalists when I was deciding which boat to buy, I wound up with the Nordic. There is no comparison in cabin space, the Nordic hands down. Tooling went to Nordic also. I liked the bolsters better in the Fountain as well as the standard K-Planes. I have full hydraulic steering so that was a wash. The hull is longer than the Fountain, and the step is very mild which makes a stable boat in the turns. Take a look at both, they are different boats, both nice. I have put the Nordic through the ringer as far as conditions go...no stress cracks or issues. I'll give you some plus and minuses from two years of 28 Nordic ownership, take them for what their worth.
Plus:
>Looks...get alot of WOWs and thumbs up from people all the time.
>Performance...67 GPS stock Bravo 24 w/496HO. I'm testing a lab 26 next year
>Four full length stringers, hand lamination
>Good in chop, not as good as Pantera or PP 28, but overall good
>Nice helm layout
>Order graphics, gauges, equipment, etc. as you wish
>Handles turns very well
>Large cabin
>Beautiful gel coat
Minus:
>sun pad is angled and hard to hang out on
>Bolsters are too far from helm, but you could specify setback when ordering (I moved mine forward this past spring)
>Carpet in cockpit (I ripped mine out and put in Pirelli type floor)
>Nordic Trailers should only be used in fresh water, not salt. Mine is used in salt and it's ****ty after two years.
>No bow cleat for anchoring (I requested one when I ordered it)

Overall...if I had it to do over again, I might go Pantera, but this was a good decision. I have no regrets and it's nice to have a good performing, well constructed, good looking boat that not everybody else has. I felt we made the best decision over the Fountain, and I'm not kocking Fountains, I like them, but this was a better fit for us. Good luck...Steve

Nordic's graphics are in the gel, not paint.

I've got a 2002 28' Heat open-bow.
Love it. No complaints so far. 75 hours of flawless operation in first season.

I ordered mine with bolsters a bit closer -- thanks to Indy's recco. Good decision.
