I have never had the pleasure to ride in a Fountain but one thing that I can add to this is a Cigarette will hold a higher resale value.

TOP GUN, CAFE', BULLET
I was the Director of Product Development at Cigarette for the Top Gun , Cafe' and the Bullet. In 1985, 6, 7, we thought that those boats were the most advanced, best built on the planet. Noone ever said, do it this way and save a buck! Even after all these years, they still hold up well against the glare of newer competition. We used to have a book on the coffee table in Mr. Gowens' office, called"The Quintessence of being it" Rolex is "it". Harley is "it", Ferrari is "it". Snap-on is ""it". Cigarette is "it". Fountain AIN"T.

I understand that the pad will make for harder landings which is more uncomfortable for the people, but how does that affect rough water performance? I'm trying to ascertain why the Cig is better in rough conditions. Both the Fountains and current Cigs have steps, so that is a wash. Rough water performance and pilot comfort go hand in hand. The less you have to concern yourself with staying in the boat and in one piece the faster you can run it. |

I owned a Fountain 38 Fever for eight years. I now own a Cigarette Top Gun going on four years.

It always amazes me how Fountain is the boat that is most often comparied too.
I dont think that there is a ideal boat, there all a matter of style and taste difference. while i love the looks of my fountain i also love the looks of the classic's and hope to own one in the future. before i purchased my first fountain I looked at many classic V's cig, formula, scarabs, i kept going back to the fountains because they provided me with more than flat out high speed performance, such as cruise effencience, cruise comfort,( i like to have the option to sit if i choice ) with reasonable good rough water capabilities, styling, and good resale value.
