they used to call me eccentric, but since I’ve spent all my money on this project, now they just describe me as crazy

Truthfully, I prefer the clean deck, just a nice shiny finish. I live in a hot climate where nobody lies out on the deck. Winch takes care of the anchor so people would rarely venture out there. If you're gonna be baking out on the foredeck you'll probably need something. I still like the old fashioned, harder to clean non-skid.

Other alternative for sun worshippers, you've got a very big area out there, a 2 to 3" high stainless rail around a nice sunpad. Bit boring to look at but very practical.

I still prefer clean and shiny.

I don’t expect anyone to go out to the deck and lay out. But someone will have to tie up to the dock at some point. Visually I prefer the paint alone , but it’s slippery. I can’t make myself cover the shine with anti slip paint. I would love to see a smooth transparent anti slip film. But have not found anything yet.

The stainless is is a compromise, will add a little grip( off to the sides at least) and still show off the paint

as as far as low profile rails are concerned, I agree, and will be putting those on at some point
