Any Long Island south shore guys out there?
I need to ask someone who knows a little about the south shore boating seen.
Which marinas are close to some nice restuaurants and bars?
Which ones have dock space or high and dry storage?
Which ones are not to far from Queens?
If anyone can help me out, it would be greatly appreciated.
I am trying to find somewhere nice because I have been on the north shore for two years now it tends to get a little boring.

Johnny, I live in Bayside, near Uncle Jacks...How 'bout you?
I keep my boat out in Hampton Bays, so I'm not much help for the south shore...but If I had to guess, I would say Grovers in Freeport. There are a couple of members who keep ther bosts there(or near there) and Fire Island is not far away.
Good luck

Sean,
Al grovers is actually the only marina I know of out there but someone told me there was a waiting list to get in. We'll see.
As for where I live, I live in Bay Terrace in Waters Edge Towers. I also frequent Uncle Jacks from time to time(not a bad steak).
Thanks for the info on grovers, I'll have to give them a shot.

Ocean Outboard in Merrick has everything you are looking for, and Tony Caligure, the owner, is a treasure to deal with (please tell him that I said to kiss little Anthony for me!)
For some strange reason, I only have the number for NJ location 732-701-9600.

There are a few places over by Ocean Outboard in Merrick, Blue water Yacht club is one I think. There are two high & drys on woodcleft in Freeport. Freeport should only be a 15 to 20 minute ride (add another 10 to get to Ocean outboard in Merrick) You're best bet is to take a ride into Freeport, and check out the places on Woodcleft, (follow the nautical mile signs) They've really cleaned up the area a lot. There are some decent bars there, and npot too bad of a ride to Paddy McGees. You can be out to Fire Island in 45 minutes to and hour depending on how fast you're riding... There was also Fred Chall marine in Freeport, but I think they went under.

Hey J.D.454,tripps here,DaveM is right. the ss is where its happening,Oceanoutboard just opened up a new place in freeport east of woodcleft canal. MRD took a GREAT spot at the anckorage in lindenhurst on the bay and they have rack service and many, many hot boats there.theres a few more spots around,a big spot in seaford also called treasure island. try to get in now,u mite get lucky. then we have the resturants/BARS,hehe ah,where do i start? Freeport,5 or more, merrick 2 seaford 3, massapequa 3,amityville 2,lindenhurst 2, babylon 3, bayshore 4, and those are within 10 miles from merrick to bayshore and thats on the mainland side. there are more out east and then we have fireisland, democrat point, captree, cedarbeach, gilgo, zachsbay and im quite sure im missing a few spots.then theres always a hot boat crusin around to play with and some are very quick hey dave,we would of used alot of gas doin all that ,anything else 454? feel free to ask and you will be glad u went south!! what kinda ride u got? tripps
