Going back under the knife !

For those following the saga, the bone grafts from my spinal fusion have moved and are again touching the nerves. Dont have a date but it looks about 2 weeks. This will be spine surgery number 6 and the 3rd in a 2 month time period. Any spine surgeons out there ? Malpractice attorneys ?

Im going to need a really nice riding boat.

Daggone man, sorry to hear this, I feel for you. I hope you find you way thru this mess, pm me if you want to sound off a bit, would be more than happy to lend a hand. Good luck, keep'em honest. Have you considered a different doc?? I know you shopped hard initially, just curious about now. Hang tough, Allan

Sorry to hear the bad news. I feel for you, I've had numerous surgeries myself and may be going in again in the near future myself.

A new Doc will be doing this. The old Doc will be assisting. I have a friend of the family who is a spine surgeon who says Im in the best of hands possible (University of Chicago). I thought I knew what pain was about until now. Unfortunatley...**** happens. Thats why they call it practicing medicine. They are taking out the current bone grafts which were wedges much like what you use to drive into an axe handle to secure the axe head only made from bone. The new ones are threaded bone dowles that screw into place. I gues I need the medical grade thread locker, maybe some JB Weld.

Obnoxious, the Busa aint for sale and If the Docs succeed in criplin me, it will be converted into the baddest three wheeler on the planet.

Chris,
Sorry to hear you’re going in again!  I hope this one will turn out with much better results. I think the surgeons should chip in and buy you something big!!!! A nice 40 something Skater, Outerlimits or NEW Apache. That’s the LEAST they can do.

Chris,
Sorry to hear about your on-going back problems. Hopefully, this one will fix it. Nort, is correct, your and your families health is EVERYTHING! Anything after your health is just icing on the cake!!!

I had throat surgury for a papiloma, (About the size of 2 quarters side by side!) on my Left vocal cord, earlier this month, and it was a life altering event for me! The 2 days it took for the biopsy, (Negative, thank god!) to come back, were sleepless nights!! I now TRULEY value my time with my wife and girls EVEN more now than before!:D
Once again, good luck and hang in there!
Dean

Sorry to here they have to go back in.
This is what? The third time? I hope they get it right. They'd better.

Was the other Doc a neurosurgeon or orthopedic?

Everything I read before having mine done said to stay away from orthopedic's.
My Doc is a neurosurgeon specializing in brain and spine work. It'll be 12 months on Dec. 4th since I had mine fixed and except for muscle pain (too much lifting) I'm fine. After the surgery I congratulated him on doing such a good job. He said thanks but not everyone comes out as good as I, he wished they all could.

Good luck.

Iggy

That sucks bro... :(
I hope everything goes well for you this time around - third time's the charm, right?;)

Uncle Toys 10-31-2002 12:10 PM

Damn, that is horrible! Almost can't get myself to open your thread out of fear of what your going through. Good luck!

cobra marty 10-31-2002 03:44 PM

Just remember that "a bad outcome is not malpractice". In the informed consent the doctor will discuss risks, benifits, alternative therapies and possible outcomes both good and poor. Of course there is no gurantee in medicine. The surgeon can do everything perfect, exact, precise and you body rejects, doesn't heal, reinjure and is this the surgeons malpractice--No!

ClassCig38 10-31-2002 04:21 PM

Yikes, Chris!! Sorry to hear that......hope this is the last of it. Keep us posted....prayers continue.....Mr. Cig and Patti.

I feel for you, Im getting ready for a total hip replacement at the age of 39.. Already have had 9 surguries & a rampid infection in the hip that was mis-diagnosed for 3 weeks and it has totally destroyed my hip joint.. Snowmobile VS Car, I lost!!

I tried that malpractice thing: Good luck!

Ill say a prayer for you and hope all goes well.
Mark
