When you trailer long distances what all do you bring?
Im thinking of adding a trailer box with the following- bottle jack random pieces of 2x4 and 4x4 hammer 4 way wrench spare hub with bearings so if something happens it could save a day of waiting for parts. Also thinking two spare tires. I like to run at night so tires should have better luck, but if something happens it’s still good to have another back up. What else should I be packing? |
The title should be changed to "Paging Sydwaz"..... ;) He always has good input on this topic...

A heavy duty floor Jack. 2 Full Hubs ready to go. My Milwaukee impact. A file, grease. I also always have full tool set in the truck box. grease gun. These are some of the highlights. I also like some extra ratchet straps, temperature sensor gun too. |
Take two spares!! When we had a blowout at 2AM on I95 it wasn't a good feeling carrying on with no spare. Chains and hooks to Jack up an axle if needed, laser temp gun, spare blocks of wood for jacking. Take the right size socket and a breaker bar. Those 4-way out wrenches are amateur hour and depending on the trailer wheel you need a low profile socket (my 5-star trailer rims need a low profile socket). 4-leaf clover |
One of those point and click temp guns,,,,everytime you stop for gas, eat, piss, scratch your nutz etc... shoot the caps, hubs and treads. Its a good way to find a problem before it becomes one.
Also make sure you have the correct jack. I discoverd after one trip that the bottle jack I took was too tall to fit under the axle and too short to get the wheel off the ground when used on the beam..... |
Along with a lot of stuff that others have mentioned, I carry a spare leaf spring and all the bolts to replace it. I've broken a couple of the rear ones.
The parts are only $35-40 and you can't just stop at the auto parts store and get one. |
Everything you can think of take.... especially floor jack, blocks, and a Milwaukee impact.....
