Which One ????
 

Would like some opinions on two boats I'm presently looking at. Both are 2000 models and 27'. One is a Fountain Fever and the other a Formula Fastech. Both have 502 mags and similar equipment. Formula has 56 hours and Fever has 76 hours. I'm looking to go larger than my 23' Wellcraft Excalibur. I live and boat in New Orleans area and lakes down here get nasty real quick sometimes. Owned a Formula more years ago than I care to say, so I'm looking for some opinions on folks that have been around these or owned them. Any and all opinions are appreciated.

I love the front shape..

Generally speaking of course, but I seem to see more "stress" crack in Fountains than I do in Formula's........ And the upholstery in a Formula will last for a minimum of 10-12 years.....my last one was 9 years old & still had perfect interior! Do the Fastech!!:)

I got 65MPH out of a 271 with a 496Mag HO
I have also driven the 27'Fever with a 454, Dog out of the hole but it ran in 3-4ft very well. It was a stable boat and turned on a dime. The 271 also ran well in the bigger water. The boat had a more solid feel (Formulas do) But didnt have the throttle responce of the Fountain. Thinking into the Future the Fountains resale is impressive for its size. Good Luck

Its all in what you are looking for, you can always add more power like most of us do to go faster. I dont own either but ive seen alot of older formulas that look and are just as solid as the day they were new.

As for quality i like what formula does with the one peice cockpit and deck as well as their fiberglass stringer system. Im not sure about the 2000 but all the new ones have great rigging and gil offshore motor mounts standard. Just my .02

Formula, Truely a 1st class production boat! Problem is the 1st class price tag that comes with it..

Honestly ... if you move into the Fountame, it will not feel any bigger that what you have now. I moved from a 24' Donzi to a 27' Fountame and it did not feel as stable or secure while making the Catalina crossing.
