Probably a characteristic of staggered vs side by side. A side by side would be less likely to really sit on the steps. I’m betting formulas steps aren’t as big or aggressive.

and of course balance and then placements of the steps. And even props can play into that as well (Stern lifting )

the 43 IMO has a very forward first step Almost like its too far forward. The 38 to me looked a bit more planted and settled but that could of been the difference of drivers / tabs / drive / positions plus on off the throttles as the 43 was doing --- it seemed. Or possible thats how they wanted the 43 to act / driven on the water compared to the 38 being more settled ?
