LOTO airports

What's the options on flying into LOTO.

thisistank 05-22-2019 01:39 PM

Saint Luis or Kansas City and then drive 3 hours in.

Freakin' lame. Went through this buying our tickets for the cig run.

F-2 Speedy 05-22-2019 01:50 PM

It would easier to parachute in.........:D..........small private plane come into Osage beach...?

Matt Trulio 05-22-2019 02:04 PM

As Tank pointed out, whether you fly to Kansas City or St. Louis it's a three-hour drive, two hours if you devote yourself to breaking speed limits and you don't hit rush hour in either city.

That said, having done it many times I think the drive from Kanas City is a lot prettier.

poiuy10 05-22-2019 02:11 PM

there is a regional airport in Springfield Missouri, about 1.5 hours to the south of LOTO. smaller and less travel to the lake.... " that's some beautiful country out there Clark ". :)

Depending where you are coming from you can fly into Columbia airport that’s about a hour. Springfield is another regional aitport. About 2 hours. St. Louis is under 3 hours

The drive from St Louis does have a lot of billboards to read and keep you occupied, so that's a plus.

MDG_Jason 05-22-2019 07:10 PM

We are looking into options as well to get the Fastboys team out there.

I was the wrench for the team down in Cocoa beach. It was great to meet you Randy and the rest of the Typhoon team. See you in LOTO!

Fly in to COU - Columbia MO. One hour trip/drive to the lake down 63/54 from airport. Quick check in and out at COU. Weakness is connecting flights are Dallas, Chicago, and Denver only I believe.

Nate5.0 05-23-2019 08:44 AM

We always fly in Branson and get a rental. rentals are about $125 - $150 for Thurs - Sun. Drive is about 1hr to hour and 30min from airport to Camden.

I really wanted to make the Cig Rendezvous this year, but due to other obligations it is not in the cards for me.

Lots of searching on here and came across Jefferson City, which says its 45 min away. Cheap direct flights at least from Detroit. For what its worth.

poiuy10 05-23-2019 09:02 AM

Jefferson City is a really small airport, didn't realize they had connections to the "bigger" airports. that would be a close option for the drive... 1 hr away

Knot 4 Me 05-23-2019 09:04 AM

Just hope the rain stops soon and the water cleans up for the runs on Friday and Saturday. At some point they will have to start dumping Truman again downstream and it is going to make for a mess on LOTO. Last weekend there was just small debris and the water was muddy. Something to keep in mind. We'll see how the water looks next weekend for Lake Race.

Jeff City dealing with the aftermath of a large tornado last night.

what airline flys from DTW to Jeff City? I have a lot of Friemds in Detroit that come down to LOTO and we weren’t aware of that

Looks like Jeff city airport is still not open to commercial aviation

Madman7 05-23-2019 11:43 AM

Sorry, it auto swaps to MCI w/o saying otherwise, which is KC.....

Looks like best option is Parachute :-)

F-2 Speedy 05-23-2019 12:25 PM

MCI is Kansas city..............why they named it that we have no idea

Just shy of full pool at 659.2 (660 full). Should get close to full pool later this week. Truman upstream is like 30 ft over normal pool and they are dumping water like crazy downstream so Ameren may end up opening the flood gates at Bagnell dam. Water continues to be murky and you will run into debris fields on the lake along with the occasional larger chunks of wood. I don't see it clearing up anytime soon. Keep a sharp eye out while running.

Not good with the Cig event a week out

Exactly. Won't be like last year.

NWfreerider 06-05-2019 03:40 PM

Test ran my new 32 DW at LOTO over Lake Race weekend. The water is FULL of debris. Not good for fast runs at all. I cruised under 40 mph and numerous times came off plane. MM 18-24 was the worst out of the areas I covered.

My boat is slipped at the 19 MM and I only ran to PBC at the 21.5 on Saturday and that was far enough.

There is more than likely going to be some minimal flooding at LOTO. Ameren MediaRoom - News Releases

We've got a friend that has a fishing cabin along the Osage River. He said they all got mailed notices recently to move any valuables or property out as flooding was inevitable once the flood gates get opened. It's not looking like very friendly water conditions for Cig weekend. Truman is still near 740, normal pool being 706. The good news is hopefully Truman finally crested, which means most of the crap it is collecting and sending downstream to us is already in the water. Now it just needs to flow through.
