454 Engine model Help gen 5 or 6 ?

Over the weekend one of my 454's finally gave way. when i input the serial number on mercs website i am getting a little conflicting info. I am wanting to find out my option for purchase , but the website pulls up both a Gen 5 and a gen 6. Would someone be able to tell me anything more accurate. serial # 0K283407. Thanks in advance

There weren't many 0K SN's built on a Gen V block, most were Gen VI if you look at the SN's.

Sorry to see your engine went out. The super easy way to tell Gen V vs Gen VI is by the timing chain cover. Stamped steel 10 bolt for Gen V, 6 bolt cast aluminum for Gen VI.

I appreciate it. Ran the Thunder run at lake Cumberland and unfortunately didn't hold up. Thanks for the input!
