Welcome to the revolution—the new Mercury Racing 450R has arrived. And it's amazing.

Correction on the peak torque number: 439 pounds.
I inadvertently duped the horsepower rating as the torque output. Apologies for any confusion. |
Wow that’s a price jump |
What gear case are they using??

Is the Cigarette Tirranna equiped with 450's a new boat, or one of the two from the Miami Show?
|
It's cool but for twins almost 100K for 900HP? I get that they don't have the volume sales like the auto industry but holly cow.
Like it said in Matt's write up, maybe they do that to keep 400 sells up. |

Glad to see they continue to push the envelope, so that one day when I’m in the market for a 60k fishing motor there’s something available. Basically 700lbs per hanging on the transom. Wasn’t too long ago the 300xs was heavy at 505 compared to the 2.5Ls

I believe I read that they gained 10mph going from 400's to 450's.
Makes sense, Mercury was always pretty fair at producing what they stated. |

that would be 2 mph per 10 hp HOWEVER, the actual hp/mph plane stays pretty consistent at 1mph per 33hp, 2700hp/81mph=33hp But who is really counting all of this. LMAO |

I smell Justin Whipple, and maybe a few others, foaming at the mouth to have a programming and pulley upgrade. :)

The actual INCREASE is 1mph per 30hp. 6x400=2400hp vs 6x450=2700hp
