Default Michigan Motorz questions....

Anybody ever dealt with them?? heard about them? Good bad or indifferent??

My sister has a Beram with a couple of the Merc 165 straight 6's. One of them ate a couple bearings. Michigan motorz has a rebuilt long block for $2400....

MM is top notch for online resaler. Folks at iboats forums been doing business for years with them, and you hardly ever hear a bad word about them. If you have a problem they get it fixed. Great customer service

I’ve bought several new 5.7’s and a 4.3 off of them to replace freezers, and it was a flawless transaction, never bought anything rebuilt tho.

zero tech service or support . Yes they sell new & reman engines that one can buy off anyone else in the business. They buy stuff at discounts - left over stock and inventories and so forth. A good example here of their no support was about 5 or more years ago they were selling brand new drop in engines and advertise them for Mercruiser / volvo penta and so forth. The boat owners got zero help from MM at that time because Im sure MM was clueless. Well I could not tell you how many of those brand new engines would not get past 3000 rpms - It was I that figured out MM was selling INBOARD engines without trannys and the tranny temp sensor circuit was putting the engines in Guardian mode at 3000 rpms. The MM engines were installed in many Mercruisers and Volvo I/Os but were inboard drop ins without the trannys..

A marine service shop form Alaska was the first to reach out to me about why the MM engine was guardian at 3 K rpms and then many others started to follow with the same questions.. At that time we had a marine tech network that many of us communicated in a marine tech forum about industry issues, news - tech help and so forth. Kind of like what the car industry has - but smaller and with yearly dues. Anyways who is going to warranty any the repairs if their reman engine takes a chit ? And its not MM remaning engines (zero ) I promise you that.
