Cabin Door Open / Cabin Door Closed!!?
Seems like such a trivial issue...but I think about this every time I put the boat away for the week. is it best to store the boat with the cabin door open or closed? I have my theories....does it make a difference? Or am I over thinking this!!! Thoughts? |
Funny...I left mine open for air circulation.
|
I always close everything and put one of the big Damp Rid buckets inside.
They work amazing, and leave a fresh scent. Go through about 4-5 a season, than put 3 in for winter storage. |
Always hot and humid here, my boat has a full Sunbrella cover and sits under shade. Cabin door open ALL the time. Coincidentally, I checked on my boat today, Marina staff had cleaned everything early this week but left the door closed. Opened it up straight away and I could smell the cabin, not fresh! RR |
Open. If you do close it don’t lock it. Thieves will do more damage to the boat than whatever they take. |

Open, and ours is under a sunbrella cover, and on the lift with a roof |
Open, ours is on the lift with a water proof cover that has a vent. Even in this humidity down here it seems to keep it nice and mold free.
|
I also keep ours open. Let’s it “breath” slightly even though it’s covered. I also crack all the cabinet doors and the door to the head so the temp equalizes everywhere. |
Open. I store my boat in a garage, so I leave the engines hatches open and no cover on and let it dry all the way out before covering. It’s amazing the difference in smell and everything seems to stay clean longer in the engine compartment |
Open all the time. I run a large fan for 12+ hours blowing into the cabin if it gets even a little wet. It does make a difference.
