I am not an expert on Sonic, but I have learned a lot in two seasons of owning one. I have met the President, Richard Hewitt, as well as the COO Jay Ross, and they will both sit there and chat with you about whatever you want to know. Don't expect that 386 with 830HP to be a rocket. Its not going to be. I would not expect it to get over 70mph. The cabin is huge. The cockpit is probably big enough to set a small VW inside of. All Sonics, up until 2003 are very heavy boats. The only major refinment as of recent is with 2002/2003 boats, they started vacuum bagging the hulls. With this heavy hull, however, you can expect a VERY solid and comfortable ride. You will not be disappointed; but if you want a 38 foot rocket ship, you need to buy something lighter like a 38 (35) Fountain. There is a lot of info on Sonic and the 386 in the past in the Sonic forum.

Sonics aren't that fast but they are built to last and give a very comfortable ride. A huge cabin is thier trademark.

i hane two friends that have 386s with 502 mags. they will run just shy of 70 mph, but these boats eat rough water for lunch.
Both of the owners of these boats are extremely happy with them.
